Synthesizing Pianos
A piano string is struck by a hammer, producing a complex waveform whose brightness depends on hammer hardness and strike position. The Karplus-Strong algorithm with a shaped noise exciter models this naturally: harder hammers inject more high-frequency energy, while body resonance and damping shape the sustain and decay.
