Synthesizing Realistic Cymbals

Realistic cymbal synthesis combines noise with ring-modulated oscillator pairs filtered through a bandpass filter bank. The noise provides the broadband wash, while ring modulation creates the shimmering inharmonic partials. A long, carefully shaped decay envelope gives cymbals their characteristic sustain.
