Part 15

ESPs & Vocoders

A vocoder stamps one sound's spectral shape onto another's tone. The modulator (voice) is split into frequency bands, each tracked by an envelope follower. Those envelopes control VCAs that shape the carrier (synth) through matching filter bands, so the carrier speaks with the modulator's mouth.
