String Machines

Classic string machines like the Solina and ARP Omni used divide-down oscillators to generate sawtooth waves at every pitch, then thickened them with an ensemble chorus: three delayed copies modulated by slow LFOs. This simple architecture produced the lush, shimmering string pads that defined 1970s pop and progressive rock.
