Part 25

Synthesizing Brass Instruments

Brass sounds are defined by a filter envelope that makes brightness rise with loudness. The harder you blow, the brighter the sound. Add a mouthpiece formant around 1500 Hz and you get realistic brass. Compare the "Ideal" version with formant and envelope to a "Simplified" saw-plus-filter.
