Part 1

What's In A Sound?

Every sound is built from harmonics, integer multiples of a fundamental frequency. A sawtooth has all harmonics at 1/n amplitude, a square has odd harmonics only, and a triangle has odd harmonics at 1/n². Use the sliders below to shape your own waveform from 32 individual harmonics.

Preset
Pitch

Each slider controls one harmonic. Harmonic 1 is the fundamental pitch; higher numbers add brightness and character.

Try each preset to hear how different harmonic recipes create different timbres.
